08 APRIL 2026 Good morning, Michael. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much I appreciate your fine product. I am a 62-year-old retired homeowner who has never dealt with bed bugs in my life until recently. Last year I moved my mother, who is 82, into my home. She likes to go to thrift stores, and unfortunately she brought bed bugs into my house.

I immediately called an exterminator to come in and estimate what it would cost to get rid of them. I was truly shocked when they told me the prices. They wanted $3,000 for a heat treatment that was not guaranteed, and I was told that it would possibly take two or three treatments to rectify the situation. As a retired industrial mechanic and maintenance technician, I’ve always been a guy who could identify a problem and resolve it. I thought I could take care of this on my own. That started one of my worst nightmares ever. Read More These bugs are so resilient and hard to overcome that I began to tell people that I felt like I was fighting the spawn of Satan — no kidding — the absolute worst pestilence I have ever come across. I started out with expensive pesticides that seemed good through the advertising and packaging but did absolutely nothing but kill the bugs I could see. I also tried ultrasonic devices that were guaranteed to eliminate them. I eventually tried different heaters that were propane-driven and electric-driven that could get a 400 square foot room up to about 120°, but I thought that should be sufficient. I thought I had exterminated them, then a few weeks later — maybe a month — they were back. I was getting ready to go the expensive route of hiring an exterminator, whatever the cost, so be it, but I had already spent hundreds of dollars on pesticides and hundreds of dollars on heaters and had no confidence in the exterminator a month down the road. I decided to buy my own heat system specifically designed for bed bug treatments. I started checking the prices of equipment online and was shocked by the prices of these things. I looked into renting equipment, and unfortunately there is nowhere around me that rents this equipment. Apparently, the exterminators keep it proprietary to their economic benefit. I started looking for used equipment. All I found were the plastic fan-shaped heaters sold on Amazon from China. They use multiple extension cords and look very cheap. I didn’t want to burn my house down, so I passed on those. The problem kept getting worse with the bugs, and I ran across a used unit on Facebook. It was a PestPro Thermal 240-volt, 10-kilowatt heater. After researching what I could find about your product online, I decided to go have a look at it and purchase it. It was 350 miles from me, but the price was right, and as soon as I saw the unit I was impressed by the professional look of it. The manufacturing of it is just wonderful. It’s in a very well-made cabinet of heavy gauge steel with what I would call a Bakelite finish — I think it’s actually powder coated — but a very durable unit: good wheels, good cabinetry, good fabrication. I purchased the unit, brought it home, and proceeded to take it apart to ensure that it wasn’t going to cause me any unwanted problems. My initial reaction to the assembly of the unit was totally positive. I saw ease of assembly, all solid-state electrical components, heavy-gauge switching, no cheap electrical components whatsoever, no unnecessary components — everything is straightforward, with an ease of maintenance and repair that did not seem to be an afterthought. I had a few questions because I hadn’t received an owner’s manual with the product. My experience has been that if you buy something used and not directly from the manufacturer, and you try to contact the manufacturer with questions, they are very unresponsive at best, rude at worst — not this company. I called the number on the machine, the gentleman answered the phone very promptly, spoke English (which I was totally unprepared for), and asked how he could help me. I had a few minor questions on the operation of this unit and proceeded to engage in about a 45-minute conversation with this gentleman, during which I found out he’s not only a representative but the owner of the company. He was very helpful in all regards — a very pleasant conversation, and typical of old-school companies: one-on-one customer service, almost unheard of these days. Very impressed, to say the least. So far so good all right Now let’s get down to the equipment doing what it was designed to do. At first I was nervous about using such a product — afraid of being too close to something flammable, afraid of doing damage to my home or my property. I decided to do one of the small bedrooms first. I moved a lot of things out and plugged in the unit. I was very impressed with the thermostatic controls of this unit. It is designed with very simple, user-friendly operating controls. I like the feature that the fan has to be on to cool the motor before you can apply power to the heating elements. In the first room, I was monitoring temperatures of everything in the room, especially within four feet of the heater. I watched it and I watched it and I watched it. I ran the unit on the 140° setting after the room got up to about 130°–135°. It stabilized — the heater would go up to 140° and shut off, then cool down to 130° and come back on. The room temperature never varied at all. I was genuinely impressed. I would almost say this is a set-it-and-forget-it unit. Of course, I monitored this heater — I wouldn’t leave any electrical component, especially something like this, running unsupervised. After doing the first room, my confidence level increased greatly because I began to trust the machine, and I decided to do every room in my home. I had looked around with flashlights, trying to locate the bed bugs that I had already sprayed and could not find any, but the heater actually drew them out of hiding. After I had completed the treatment, I found dead bugs on the carpet. They were apparently trying to escape the heat that had permeated into their hiding places. It showed me in real time that it was working as designed. It took care of my problems. PERIOD. The only thing I would have done differently, given the opportunity, is I would have bought two of them. It is designed to heat 400 square feet, and I pushed its limits up to about 500 square feet with no problem. But some of my rooms are a lot bigger than that, and I had to build temporary plastic walls from sheeting to block off parts of the room, but it still worked. What I would consider a big benefit of this unit over comparable electric fan-style heaters is the fact that it displaces the heat from the bottom of the machine, and we all know heat rises. The fan-type heaters direct the heat wherever the fan is pointed, and to have proper air circulation, the fan needs to be pointed toward the center of the room — toward the center of the height of the room, I should say. This heater eliminates that issue. The hot air comes out at floor level, and the forced-air fan in front of it distributes the heat. That way, you’re getting heat to the bottom of the room. When I first talked to Michael on the phone, he was shocked that I bought this unit used. He thought maybe one of his customers had a problem with the unit and had sold it. That was not the case — unfortunately, the man that owned it had passed away and his family sold the unit. That being said, this was an older unit, which is a good opportunity to speak to the longevity of this equipment. It performed like new, and I would say it has many, many more years of use. This is not a throwaway unit. The components in it can easily be changed and repaired, and I believe longevity is only compromised by component manufacturers going out of business — in which case there would be a suitable replacement for any of the components from another manufacturer. If I were a professional exterminator looking for a heater, I would look no further than this device. Everything from safety to functionality to longevity to customer service is above and beyond a business operator’s expectations. You get personal service, you get a quality product, and you get a device that does what it was created to do — without a doubt. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate Michael and his team for turning one of the worst experiences of my life into one of the most pleasant and fulfilling customer-oriented relationships I’ve experienced in a long time. To sum up: this product took care of my problem, and I believe it would take care of your problems also. I have a hard time saying that about 90% of the things I purchase in this day and age. It reminds me of simpler times when a man’s handshake was his bond and when someone told you something, that was the truth. Does heat kill bed bugs including eggs?

Heat is the only legal and safe method that will always kill bed bugs and their eggs 100% of the time. Since DDT was banned in 1972 bed bugs have developed resistance to other pesticides designed to kill them. Bed bugs can NOT develop resistance to heat.

What size area will a heater treat?

Each 1000 watts of electric heat will treat 30-40 square feet of living space so 10,000 watts will treat 300-400 square feet. This assumes standard 8′ high ceilings, wood frame construction, no exposed masonry or hard surfaces (brick, concrete, tile floors, large mirrors, etc.), the treatment area has been pre-heated at least 2 hours prior to heat treatment using the furnace/boiler/PTAC and windows covered in plastic and vents/cracks sealed with plastic sheeting and painters tape to keep hot air in and cold air out. Wintertime colder temperatures will lower and summertime hotter temperatures will increase the number of square feet a bed bug and pest heat treatment system can treat. Although killing bed bugs with heat is a fairly simple concept we want to be sure you are purchasing the right mix of bed bug removal equipment for your specific situation. We have learned the hard way that allowing our customers to figure it out on their own is not a responsible way to sell our products.
